Bike Recoveries

I had two trackers on the bike but the thief only removed one, so I was able to locate it. I called the police once I found it and they gave it back to me.

Officers located my bike in a premises thanks to my GPS tracking system

I found the bike advertised on Facebook Marketplace and recovered it from the seller with the help of officers from Colindale Police Station. The police were only prepared to help because the bike register sticker was visible on the seller's photos, allowing a 99% positive identification. I then had to go to meet the seller and make a positive identification, with the police waiting round the corner, before they were able to intervene. Also, in the run-up to the recovery, the police took an awful lot of persuading that this was worth their time. And the whole process took quite a lot of time: researching the whereabouts of the bike, waiting on hold to speak to police, giving statements, collecting bikes etc. etc. All in all, it was a huge amount of work to recover a bike I could otherwise simply have claimed for on insurance. That said, the seller had a good number of other stolen bikes that the police later recovered in a raid and can now be reunited with their owners. So, in conclusion: it's a hassle and quite stressful, but if you have the time to recover bikes in this way it can be very satisfying!

Spotted in London...was v lucky

I was contacted by my local police force who had asked a certain person if the bike was his, he dropped it and ran. On scanning the barcode they realised it was mine!

Member of the public saw my lock being cut and approached the thief, scaring them away. The bike was then left inside the swimming pool it was locked in front of.

Appeared outside our building this morning after publicly sharing on social media that it had been stolen
