Northern Ireland Pushes Bike Marking

With bicycle theft on the increase in the centre of Belfast, PSNI have been working hard to introduce BikeRegister to local cyclists.

Officers have been attending a wide variety of events to promote the service and have supported Cycle to Work Day in Belfast and charity cycle ride Kilinchy 150 in County Down, offering bike marking and registration at both.

They have also been arranging bike marking events and ‘See the Cyclist’ safety talks at retailers such as Cotswold in Belfast and working with organisations such as Sustrans NI.

Officers in Magherafelt Neighbourhood Policing in Mid Ulster have been busy marking hundreds of bikes at different events and are due to mark more at three upcoming Sportiffs organised by local cycling clubs. The kits for these events have been funded by the local Policing and Community Safety Partnership.
