Making a BID to Reduce Bike Crime
26 Sep 2018HammersmithLondon is a Business Improvement District (BID), which is aiming to improve Hammersmith town centre as a place to work, live and visit.
The BID has worked hard to tackle bike crime in the area and has its own BID funded police officers. During a recent proactive operation in Hammersmith, west London, a prolific offender was caught in the act of trying to sell a stolen pedal cycle. Subsequent enquiries led to the recovery of a second stolen bike and a further arrest.
Another Hammersmith bike thief was caught in the act due to targeted patrols in crime hotspots. The known criminal was arrested for other theft-related matters.
The BID team says: “Proactivity in the form of sting operations are set to continue throughout the year, as are our security bike marking crime prevention initiatives.”
