Gloucestershire Constabulary ran its first countywide bike marking event over the weekend of 8-9 August 2026, with Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) visiting 20 locations across the county to security mark and register cycles on BikeRegister, the national cycle database. 

A County-Wide First for Gloucestershire 

The initiative, described by the force as the first event of its kind for Gloucestershire Constabulary, brought together PCSOs and Neighbourhood Policing Teams from Cheltenham, the Cotswolds, Tewkesbury and Stroud & Dursley. Across the two days, approximately 230 bicycles were security marked and registered for free on BikeRegister. 

Each team focused on locations within their own area: 

- Cheltenham NPT marked more than 80 bikes across eight locations in the Cheltenham area, as part of what the team called their "Mega Bike Marking Extravaganza." 

- Cotswolds NPT registered over 60 cyclists' bicycles at two events, held at Bourton-on-the-Water and Cirencester. 

- Tewkesbury NPT security marked and registered 40 bicycles, with residents from Stoke Orchard, Bishop's Cleeve and Gotherington attending. 

- Stroud NPT supported the initiative with four PCSOs taking part across the Stroud and Dursley area, with events continuing into Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean. 

What's Next

Cheltenham NPT has confirmed a further bike marking event will take place in Cheltenham town centre in September 2026. Residents across the county are encouraged to keep an eye on their local Neighbourhood Policing Team's Facebook page, or the BikeRegister website, for details of upcoming events.
