Fettle Makes its Mark with BikeRegister

Cyclists are set to benefit from a new bike marking partnership with Fettle, following a successful launch event in the Fettle-KwikFit workshop in Bristol.

Fettle, a bicycle servicing and repair company, recently acquired by KwikFit, have partnered with BikeRegister in order to provide bike marking services to their customers. The partnership, which was launched at their Bristol workshop, proved to be a great success with 23 bikes marked and protected during the event.

The kits, which include a bespoke tamper-resistant QR coded security label and warning sticker, can be applied to the frame of the bicycle. By registering and visibly marking a bike with BikeRegister, the chances of having it stolen are greatly reduced. A bike that is marked with BikeRegister is 83% less likely to be stolen than an unmarked one.

The owner and bike details are then added to the police-preferred BikeRegister database, and if theft occurs, the bike can be marked as stolen.

Louis Bennett, Business Development Manager for Selectamark, said: "Fettle are the UK's fastest growing bike repair and service company, and the Kwik Fit acquisition will only help drive their expansion, so it is great that we have launched this partnership to help combat cycle crime together.

“BikeRegister is the National Cycle Marking and Registration Scheme with over 1.3 million bikes registered. Partnering with businesses within the service industry makes perfect sense as an opportunity to mark and register customers bikes, and the response from people at the Bristol event was very positive.

“Fettle are continuing to expand their locations across the UK, with their newest location set to open on the 9th of March 2024 in Cambridge and we look forward to replicating these events at other sites across the UK.”

Ilma Barbaroviciute, Partnerships & Community Manager for Fettle, said: “Hosting this event was an absolute pleasure, and extending our bike marking service to not only our valued customers but also to cyclists across Bristol has been truly rewarding.

“We are recognizing the importance of bike marking, and it's been really good to see the uptake. Bike marking provides a vital layer of security and as we expand to other cities around the country, I am excited to see the evolution of this partnership and the positive impact it will have on cycling communities nationwide.”
