All Safe & Secure At London Victoria9 Jan 2018
As part of their highly successful Safe and Secure Programme, Victoria BID (Business Improvement District) has partnered with British Transport Police to offer a Cycle Safety Surgery, including free maintenance checks, at Victoria Mainline Station.
The Victoria Hub Team was set up in addition to the existing police structure to cover the external public areas of Victoria Station, Victoria bus terminal and Victoria Coach Station.
During the Cycle Surgeries, Victoria BID distributes free hi visibility rucksack covers, mini LED bike lights, reflective slap bands and awareness leaflets to encourage safe cycling.
This adds to the BID’s existing partnership with the Metropolitan Police in Victoria where cyclists can opt for free security marking and registration onto BikeRegister’s online database. Registering a bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.
Victoria BID’s Safe and Secure Programme set a precedent as the first of its kind in a British BID. The programme brings businesses and police services together to ensure best practice and has delivered huge success over the past five years.
