New Ways to Offer Bike Marking

Police forces got creative during the pandemic and found new ways to offer bike marking sessions that kept the public, and their bikes, safe.

Police Scotland, Avon & Somerset Police and British Transport Police were among those offering well organised, socially distanced events with bike owners queuing a safe distance apart to wait for the service, delivered by officers wearing masks and gloves.

Meanwhile, Cheshire Police offered ‘virtual’ bike marking in Runcorn where those who wanted their bikes marked emailed PCSO Chris McCue with their full details.

Once received, PCSO McCue registered their details to BikeRegister and a kit was delivered to their home address for the bike owner to apply. Once the process was completed, the bike owner received a confirmation email from BikeRegister to say they were now registered on the national database.
