Proactive Bike Recovery thanks to Avon and Somerset Police

A stolen bike was recently reunited with its rightful owner, thanks to proactive policing and the use of BikeRegister. Officers from North Somerset Neighbourhood Team were able to routinely check the bike for any noticeable bike markings, and see if the bike was stolen via the BikeRegister app. Once the bike was confirmed as stolen, the officers were able to quickly reunite the bike with the owner.

A spokesperson at North Somerset Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This bicycle benefitted from being on the BikeRegister [database] during one of our bike marking events. The sticker is extremely difficult to remove or deface so we could return it to the owner shortly after we recovered it.

"This is a free service and is a vital tool in our ability to secure and ID your bicycle - more importantly to be able to get it back to you.
