Stolen Bike Recovered in Valencia

When severe flooding hit Valencia last year, one local cyclist thought he’d lost his bike for good. Despite being locked with two D-locks, the bike was stolen from a train station during the chaos.
Rob Hanley, who originally bought the bike through the UK’s Cycle to Work scheme, had brought it with him when he moved to Spain. When Rob reported the theft to the Guardia Civil, one small detail made all the difference, the BikeRegister sticker on the frame, allowing police to identify the bike and confirm ownership straight away.
Weeks later, Rob spotted his bike by chance at the very same station where it had been taken. He contacted the Guardia Civil, who arrived within minutes, and thanks to the registration details and frame number, the bike was quickly identified and returned.
