Oxford University Adopts BikeRegister

As part of a review into safety and security at Oxford University it has been decided to change the way bike security is managed across the estate.

The current College system “Bob’s Bikes” will be phased out with no new registrations taken. Instead the university now recommends the national cycle database BikeRegister which is supported by all UK Police Forces. It is free to register a bike and for a small fee bike marking kits can be purchased.

Benefits include:
:: Lifetime registration on the BikeRegister database
:: A registration Logbook, to be used as proof of ownership
:: Secure online access to manage your account

Advice to students

As a general security reminder, always lock your bike up against an immovable object, fit lights for road safety but remove them when parked up and, when in the University's grounds, leave your bike in one of the provided bike racks.
