Met Police ‘Community Action Day’ Offers Free Bike Marking Across London Boroughs
21 Oct 2014Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) are security marking and registering bikes on BikeRegister today as part of a major drive to enhance relationships with local communities.
BikeRegister is the preferred bike marking product and registration system for the MPS and has helped reduce bike theft by 10.5% in London between October 2012 and September 2013.
As well as cycle marking, officers from London’s 32 borough Safer Transport Teams will be hosting a series of activities that will help to reduce crime and disorder on London’s transport network.
Chief Superintendent Matt Bell, Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “One of our key activities on this Community Action Day is giving London cyclists and those with an interest in cycling the opportunity to engage with us on matters of cycle security and safety. This day of action complements our policing activity throughout the year and we will continue our work in the coming weeks.”
