Highway Cycles Partners with BikeRegister to Deter Cycle Crime

With cycle theft on the rise, retailers are having to take proactive measures to ensure that the bikes stay in the hands of the rightful owner, including partnering with BikeRegister to deter theft.

To this end, Highway Cycles, a leading independent bike retailer based in Hertfordshire, has taken the opportunity to offer customers a bespoke BikeRegister kit when purchasing a new bike. The kit includes a bespoke tamper-resistant QR-coded warning label that can be applied to the frame of bike, making the bike a less attractive target to potential criminals. The owner and bike details are then added to the police-preferred BikeRegister database, and in the unfortunate event that theft occurs, the bike can be marked as stolen.

George Corbett, Digital Retail Manager at Highway Cycles, spoke about the new partnership with BikeRegister, saying: “Highway Cycles are always trying to offer the very best in advice on bike security, and as part of our fight against bike theft, we have chosen to be proactive in helping all of our customers deter any potential thief.

“From March 2024 we have started to include a BikeRegister kit with every new bike purchased in store or online at http://www.highwaycycles.co.uk, completely free of charge.

“This will enable all of our bike customers to register their bike details, and mark their bike for maximum deterrence from bike theft.”
