Cheshire Police Are On Their Marks

28 Mar 2012

Cheshire police have left their mark at a successful event in Holmes Chapel village centre.

The force held a security bike marking event using BikeRegister bike marking kits and marked more than 30 bikes.

PCSO Cheryl Smith, said: “It was good to see so many residents of Holmes Chapel and Cranage supporting the event. Bikes of all sizes and makes accompanied their owners to be marked with a unique number. The details of the bike and its owner were then added to BikeRegister.com, and should the bike be stolen officers will be able to reunite the bike with the registered keeper.”

PCSO Smith continued: “We get lots and lots of bikes handed into police on a weekly basis but we are unable to return them to the owner due them not being reported as stolen or not being security marked.”

When a bike owner is registered on BikeRegister.com they can download their own ‘log book’ for the bike which provides proof of ownership.
