Sustrans work with local Police Forces, Councils and Community Safety Partnerships to deliver BikeRegister cycle marking initiatives.BikeRegister Kits are also available to purchase on Sustrans online shop.

Some examples of BikeRegister projects thats Sustrans have been involved in are detailed below: 

Belfast ‘Lock It or Lose it’ Campaign

PSNI worked in conjunction with Sustrans NI and local cycle shops, to offer bike marking at a variety of events across the city including charity cycle rides and cycling club sportifs.

Statistics revealed that bike theft was down around 20% after police ran a 'Lock It or Lose It' campaign, which involved the promotion of a best practice bike locking video, bike locking reminders in bike storage areas and BikeRegister bike marking events.

Communities Scotland

Sustrans has worked with local community organisations SCOREScotland and WHALE Arts in the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh to help organise BikeRegister events with Police Officers from the local Crime Prevention team from Police Scotland.

100 Marked Bikes Donated to NHS Workers

Over 100 free bikes that have been marked and registered on BikeRegister have been given to NHS key workers in Bedford. The bikes were handed over through Bedford Borough Council and donated from different sources including  Govia Thameslink and Bedfordshire Police.  Several were also donated through ‘Give your bike a new life’ events, where the Bedford public donated their unused bikes.

Mechanics and volunteers from Sustrans and Bedford Park Rotary Club worked hard to ensure the bikes were cleaned, repaired and made roadworthy and also marked and registered  on BikeRegister.

Sustrans Cornwall

As part of a ‘Cornwall Active Travel and Public Transport’ project, Sustrans offer free cycle marking funded by Cornwall Council at regular Cycle to Work roadshows that are run at selected workplaces in Cornwall. These include the local hospitals and colleges. Other free services include cycle checks and information and advice on walking and cycling to work.
